Using , and
Healing with ""

is energy, and it powers the "machine" of the body. It enables your eyes to see, your mouth to taste, your muscles to move, your internal organs and glands to function, and your mind to think. Chi is the human equivalent of the electricity that makes any appliance work.

Chinese medicine views the individual human being as one interconnected and inseparable whole of body, mind, and spirit. Chi – your internal energy - connects the parts and creates the whole.

Chi that is flowing easily is an indication that the body is in balance. Before an illness manifests in the physical body, it develops in the energy system. Therefore, abnormal chi flow is the first sign of illness. The best way to heal – and to stay healthy - is to adjust and balance the chi before there is any physical problem.

Abnormal chi circulation may find its source in mental or emotional excess. The condition of a person’s mind (including emotions) directly affects the functioning of the organs. If the mind is not calm, balanced and peaceful, the organs won’t function normally. Depression can cause ulcers; anger can cause liver dysfunction.

Movement is as important for smooth chi flow as a calm and peaceful mind. The body needs exercise that stimulates and balances energy flow.

Chi Kung and T’ai Chi use breathing, stretching, movement and visualization to develop chi, a strong, functional body, and a calm and relaxed mind. Through practice, the joints, internal organs and glands are strengthened.

Daily T’ai Chi is a strong preventive medicine!

, poetically translates as "Supreme Ultimate Way of Life as taught through movement". It is a centuries-old Chinese discipline for health, relaxation, meditation, self-defense and self-cultivation.

translates as the "Development (increase and control) of the body’s energy circulation". T’ai Chi and Chi Kung are based on the same principles, and are often taught together.

These exercises are practiced in relaxed, gentle fashion that does not cause shock to the body.

The healing exercises of T’ai Chi and Chi Kung have reputations for alleviating many ailments, such as hypertension, gastric problems, arthritis, heart disease and anemia. They improve circulation and balance, and help relax and strengthen the nervous system. The stretching movements make the body limber, toning up muscles and helping to release tension. Practitioners find that it creates a sense of well-being.

Body & Mind are One
"Your body is not there just to carry around your head. Mind doesn’t dominate body, it becomes body – body and mind are one. Body is the actual outward manifestation, in physical space, of the mind."
Candace Pert, PhD

"By studying energy anatomy, you will identify the patterns of your life and the deep interworkings of your mind, body, and spirit."
Carolyn Myss, PhD

"In a brain that operates holographically, the remembered image of a thing can have as much impact on the senses as the thing itself."
Michael Talbot

Bring yourself back into balance with

Sometimes an outside stimulus is needed to help you bring yourself back into balance. "Touch & Sound" provides this assistance.

A "Touch & Sound" session facilitates healing and relaxation. Your decision to have the session demonstrates your intention to heal, and thereby opens your self to the process.

The work is with your energy system – the acupuncture meridians and energy chakras -- opening up and aligning areas that exhibit some indication of imbalance.

The traditional Chinese belief (now being verified by research into emotions and the physical body) is that our internal systems hold specific thoughts and emotions. Gently palpating the tissues along acupuncture meridians and energy chakras begins to open up these constrictions and restrictions placed in the physical system. This initial relaxation allows the work to proceed on an energetic level.

As the body is being encouraged to unwind and relax, sound is inserted into the session. The sounds include gongs, Tibetan bowls, bells, tuning forks and vocal toning – all used with the intention to heal and to bring that person more closely into alignment with her or his perfect self.

These sessions can be scheduled for a chance to relax and be gently taken care of. They also are a method to indulge in some preventive medicine – as abnormal chi flow is detected and balanced before physical illness is manifested. "Touch & Sound" is also useful when illness is present – whether as complementary care in conjunction with other treatment or on its own. Energy is the basis of life, and working with it always has an effect.

Results range from relaxing and enjoyable to transforming. It depends on where you are, and what you intend!
