Buffy Summers got the calling at her old high school, where she was popular
(per the movie, pretty much.) She and her Mom have moved to Sunnydale from L.A. Her parents have recently divorced,
and Buffy has been expelled from her old school for burning down a gym full of vampires. She wants to retire from
vampire slaying.
When she arrives at her new school (as a sophomore), she's shocked to find Giles the Librarian is her new Watcher.
He trains her, looks up information on the vamps and or other demons that she may be fighting that week.
Xander and Willow are her closest friends. Willow is a very smart computer-minded girl, and Xander and her have
some of the best scene-stealing funny lines. Xander and Willow are Buffy's two best friends.
Cordelia is the big popular *itch on campus. For the first few seasons, she was basically just the *itch. In the
second season, she was brought into the group and she and Xander had a love/hate relationship thing and were secretly
seeing each other. When they "went public", Cordelia caught a lot of flack from her popular cronies.
She and Xander established themselves as a couple after Cordelia dissed her friends rather than submit to their
scorn of her boyfriend.
Oz has only been on for about a season and a half. He is Willow's boyfriend. He plays in a band, and is very intelligent.
And he found out in one episode that he was a werewolf. Anytime a full moon is going to be out, they lock him up
and guard him overnight.
Before Xander and Cordy and Willow and Oz were paired, Willow had a crush on Xander and Xander had a crush on Buffy.
After they started dating Oz and Cordy, everything was kind of cool, but this season, Xander and Willow kissed.
They became confused about their feelings and decided they couldn't betray their respective others. But they got
taken hostage by Spike and they thought they were as good as dead and started to make out. Oz and Cordy busted
in to rescue them and saw them like that. Cordy ran away on seeing that and fell through and old stairway, ending
up in the hospital. Xander has groveled for forgiveness but she now apparently hates his guts and they are through.
(She is rumored to be going to the spin-off series with Angel.) Oz forgave Willow and they are still together.
Buffy just had her 18th birthday. If a slayer makes it to her 18th birthday
she is given a test. Her watcher first puts her in a trance and, unbeknownst to her, gives her herbal shots that
dull all of her strength. Then she is taken and locked in with a really terrible vamp who has been kept locked
up. She has to pass the test by killing the vamp with her own wits instead of her power. Buffy found out that Giles
gave her the shots. He told her everything because the vamp in lockup escaped and took Buffy's mother. Buffy took
holy water and other weapons with her and did end up using her wits to kill him and free her mother. The slayer
council said she passed the test but fired Giles saying he was too close and felt too much emotion for his slayer.
He is staying but soon her new watcher will show up and there will be fireworks.
