"You call THAT a sand castle, Ethan?"
Theresa teased, laughing.
Ethan stared glumly at the two castles. Theresa was right. Where as Theresa’s castle was tall and decorative, with
turrets and seashells, Ethan’s wasn’t a castle as much as a pile of sand. A PRETTY pile of sand, but a pile of
"Yeah, well, you got all the good buckets and stuff," Ethan pouted, crossing his arms. Theresa giggled
and sauntered over to him.
"Sore loser much? It’s time to face your fate, Mr. Crane."
Theresa grabbed his arm and began pulling him towards the ocean.
"My fate. Uh, Theresa, about that…I was just kidding about that whole being dunked in the ocean thing."
"Ethan, now you wouldn’t be saying that if YOUR castle was prettier than mine, would you."
She didn’t give him a chance to respond. She gave him a push, and he fell back into the ocean- but not before he
had a chance to grab his wrists.
"Ethan!" she yelped, falling down into the water next to him.
Ethan laughed as Theresa pulled herself up. She was drenched from head to toe.
"What are you laughing at? You don’t look so great yourself," she grumbled, flicking water at him.
"Yeah, well, I don’t have mascara running down my cheeks and hair plastered to my face."
"Sure, laugh at the victim here. I won fair and square, and you’re just a big baby and won’t admit defeat."
Theresa crossed her arms and fake pouted. Ethan knew she wasn’t really mad. If he would have one that to Gwen,
she would be steamed. But that was the way Theresa was- she looked at the fun side of every occasion.
Stop comparing Gwen to Theresa! They
are two completely different people, with two completely different personalities. You love Gwen, even if she doesn’t
have much of a sense of humor. That’s why you have Theresa for a FRIEND.
"All right, all right! You win. I
know the perfect way to make up for me being a spoil sport."
"And what’s that?"
Ethan stood up and held his hand out for Theresa. He pulled her up, and then, hand in hand they walked towards
Tingles shot up and down Theresa’s body.
"I am going to build us a fire, and then, I am going to toast us some marshmallows. How’s that for a peace
She let go of his hand, and suddenly, Ethan felt cold.
"I guess it’s an ok one."
She looked into his eyes.
The light was back.
And the warmth he was craving from her was back.
The fire was blazing, blending in with the setting sun.
"Ethan, thank you so much for the most wonderful day of my life."
Theresa was lying with her head in his lap, her eyes closed, clutching the daisy bouquet he had given her. Ethan
was stroking her hair, trying to sort things out in his head.
"It was mine too, so thank you as well."
Theresa sighed happily, and she realized no matter how hard she tried, she would never be over Ethan Crane.
"And, it’s not over yet."
"What do you mean, Ethan? I’m sure there are plenty of other things that you would rather be doing then hanging
out with me. Besides, it’s getting late."
"Our day has only just begun, Theresa. There are plenty more surprises still in store for us tonight."
"Are there now."
"Just you wait. Just you wait."
