Fan fiction and fond (mostly) memories

Kay jolted awake as the plane touched down, she gathered up her bags and ran to the pickup area. Her bags in hand
she hailed a taxi and went straight to the bus station and bought a ticket for a bus leaving in 15 minutes to Seattle.
She hauled her luggage on and threw herself into a seat and stared out the window hoping for the day to just end.
Luis and Sam arrived in San Francisco four hours behind Kay and after checking Berkeley registration for the summer
and the local hotels were forced to call and check if the credit card had been used or if Kay had called home.
As they booked a hotel for the night both felt Kay slipping away.
Kay called home the next morning from a payphone in Seattle, she had gotten in very late and awoke her face still
puffy from tears and called as she shopped for a used car.
"Mom?" Kay asked.
"KAY! Katherine where are you? Your father is terrified, he is out searching for you...." Grace began
to rant at her daughter.
"Look, Grace! I know about you and Harry, I didn’t tell Dad but I will someday soon, don’t bother looking
because I don’t want to be found and tell Miguel and Charity I am sorry I won’t be there for the wedding. I am
fine, I will come back someday." Kay said and then hung up as her mother sputtered into the phone.
Kay walked back to the used car dealership and bought the car she had seen that morning and paid cash, filling
out the title as Ahnna Fitzgerald her middle name and Luis’ last. She would use that name until they quite looking
she decided. I bet Luis is already in Beth’s bed, she thought bitterly, knowing it wasn’t true but scared it could
Luis and Sam spent weeks in San Francisco searching for anything on Kay and when they returned home both were dev-astated.
Luis gave his notice at Harmony PD and locked himself at home searching by any means for Kay, hiring investi-gators
and flying off on his own if he found anything promising.
Sam on the other hand threw himself into his work and looked for the Harmony Robber and checking daily on Luis’
search for Kay, but growing less hopeful as days turned to months.
